The Transport Workers’ Union Qld branch has recorded a landmark victory over rogue transport company K&S Freighters, with Fair Work Australia ruling the company’s policy that requires drivers to pay for damage to vehicles to be unfair.
The TWU and delegates from both Sunbus and Surfside buses have met with Minister for Transport, Rachel Nolan, to discuss security and safety issues in the bus industry.
After a public meeting in King George Square with Courier and Taxi Truck drivers, the TWU and a small delegation of members are now in talks with Brisbane City Council to address concerns over changes to CBD loading zones.
The TWU has been engaging in talks with members regarding safety and security concerns in the bus industry and believes some positive developments are not far away.
