BOMB SCARE AT BRISBANE AIRPORT SPARKS SECURITY REVIEW

The Transport Workers' Union of Australia is today calling for a review of security procedures at Brisbane Airport following a bomb scare.

The TWU was informed this afternoon by a TWU Baggage Handler that a bag with the words BOMB written across it was found in the outgoing passenger luggage at Brisbane's Qantas Domestic Ramp.

TWU National Airline Official Scott Connolly said, "The TWU has serious concerns about security at Brisbane Airport."

Mr Connolly said, "The TWU want to know how this bag got through the secure baggage terminal."

The TWU call on the Australian Federal Police, Brisbane Airport Corporation and the Federal Government to investigate this serious security breach at Brisbane Airport.

Mr Connolly said, "What are we waiting for a real bomb to go off?"

"Airport workers and their families deserve to work in a safe and secure workplace."
