Qantas Record Profits
We deserve better Qantas

Hard working Qantas employees are desperate to know where is their share of the Company's million dollar profit.

Qantas today announced a net profit of $970 million for 2007/08, a 46 per cent increase on the prior year results.

National TWU Airline Official Scott Connolly said, "Qantas have a lot of explaining to do. The airline used the price of fuel to slash jobs, wages, distribution and maintenance on their planes despite being on path to record and recording a record $970 million dollar profit."

"Why have Qantas put their need for astronomical profits before the job security and safety of their workforce?"

"Qantas workers are the backbone of the leading Airline Carrier and deserve to have job protection and financial security (a wage above the rising cost of living) for their contributions."

Mr Connolly said, "Qantas is on track to record a similar net profit in  2008/09 and it's a great opportunity for incoming Chief Executive Alan Joyce to start a new company agenda, reward and look after the future of Qantas workers and their families."
