FATAL BUS CRASH SPARKS FURTHER CALLS FOR SEATBELTS IN QLD BUSES

The Transport Workers' Union is today calling on both sides of Government to help fit seatbelts in all Queensland buses.

The call comes after a 67 year old female passenger died from injuries she sustained during a bus crash on Anzac Avenue last Saturday.

TWU Branch Secretary Hughie Williams said, "The TWU QLD Branch official endorsed a campaign this week to get seatbelts and safety capsules for drivers fitted in all QLD buses."

Mr Williams said, "With the amount of bus crashes occurring in QLD seatbelts are a must."

Mr Williams said, "It has been proven time and time again that seatbelts help save lives in a moving vehicle."

The TWU will continue to lobby both sides of Government until they install the most vital road safety device SEATBELTS in all QLD buses.
