QLD TRANSPORT WORKERS HAVE A HEART OF GOLD

Tens of thousands of TWU Members and Officials are digging deep to help those affected by the recent natural disasters.

TWU Members and Officials are donating one hour of their pay to help those who have been affected by the floods in Far North Queensland and the fires in Victoria.

TWU Branch Secretary Hughie Williams said, "The Transport Industry in Queensland is a big industry and we can help rebuild the lives of residents who have lost everything."

The TWU is also calling on Queensland Transport Companies to match dollar for dollar their employee's contributions.

"Queensland Transport Companies would have the equity to help those residents and families who have to start again,"Mr Williams said.

All funds raised by TWU Members and Officials will be donated to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal and the Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009.
