PUT SEATBELTS IN QUEENSLAND BUSES NOW

The Transport Workers' Union is calling on the Queensland Labor Party and the LNP to install seatbelts in every Queensland bus and school bus following today's tragic bus fatality.

A bus driver was killed and 12 passengers were injured following a head-on collision with a 4WD in Yandina on the Sunshine Coast.

TWU Branch Secretary Hughie Williams said, "This is a tragedy. We have lost one of our most dedicated bus drivers in Queensland."

Mr Williams said, "If we had seatbelts in buses we could of prevented the 12 passengers being injured."

The TWU call on the Queensland Labor Party and the LNP to reveal their bus safety policy to the public today."

Mr Williams said, "We cannot afford to have a Government that ignores bus safety."
