YOUR HELP IS NEEDEDQueensland Police are on the lookout for up to five juveniles involved in a recent rock throwing incident that injured a truck driver south of Brisbane. Between 12.30 an 1.30 on Monday morning objects including rocks and wood were allegedly thrown at a number of vehicles by a group of youths on the centre nature strip near the Middle Road exit, Regents Park. One projectile smashed the windscreen of a livestock truck causing glass to shatter into the face of the male truck driver. While on the same stretch of road an object struck the rear window of an ambulance causing it to shatter. Deputy Commissioner, Regional Operations Kathy Rynders said this dangerous and potentially deadly behaviour will not be tolerated. "Throwing projectiles at vehicles travelling in an 80km/h zone in the middle of the night is a recipe for disaster." Sergeant Deb Colussi said, "Police managed to catch one of the juvenile offenders and are on the lookout for the five other junveniles involved in the incident." The TWU urges motorists to report rock throwing incidents (a description of the offender/offenders and the location of the incident) to police straight away, to help stop this dangerous/potentially deadly behaviour on our roads. |
