Easter Road Safety Message
EXTRA CONCENTRATION NEEDED ON OUR ROADS THIS EASTER

The Transport Workers' Union is calling on motorists and truck drivers to pay extra attention on Queensland roads this Easter.

The call comes with an expected increase in heavy vehicles on our roads over the Easter period and the Bureau of Meteorology predicting showers for the Easter long weekend.

TWU Branch Secretary Hughie Williams said to achieve a fatality free Easter motorists need to drive to the conditions of the road.

"With extra heavy vehicles such as b-doubles and semis on our roads this Easter, heavy vehicle drivers will need room to be able to manoeuvre their vehicle."

The TWU suggests motorists give heavy vehicle drivers plenty of space and avoid slamming on their breaks in front of trucks otherwise accidents will occur.

The TWU also suggests that motorists and truck drivers slow down in the wet, leave extra room between you and the car in front of you and drive with your headlights on.

The TWU in partnership with Queensland Police is campaigning for a fatality free Easter.
