REPORTS OF PETROL GOUGINGThe Transport Workers' Union Queensland has been in updated with reports from truck drivers and motorists that they are being ripped off at the bowser. As of mid night on Tuesday Queensland's fuel subsidy ceased allowing Queensland petrol stations to increase their prices. TWU Branch Secretary Hughie Williams said, "Local truck drivers and motorists are telling the Union that they are paying more than the 8 cent subsidy benefit." "Some truck drivers have paid 132.4c a litre while others 112.9 cents a litre." Mr Williams said, "There shouldn't be such extreme price variations in our fuel." "We should be paying the same price as Sydney and Melbourne residents 120.0 cents a litre." The TWU is putting together a database of Queensland Fuel Cheats which will be handed to the ACCC to fully investigate. If you believe you have been ripped off at a petrol station contact the TWU Dob in a Fuel Cheat hotline on (07) 3890 3066 or Toll Free 1800 804 533. "The TWU won't stand for truck drivers and motorists being ripped off at the bowser." |
