Local Bus Drivers Sign a Union Agreement

Sunbus drivers are smiling today after signing a new Union Agreement.

The agreement fought long and hard by The QLD TWU and Union Members include the re-introduction of penalty rates which were cut three years ago, additional compassionate leave, award conditions and better working hours.

TWU Organiser Amanda Rigby says the penalty rates run over a three year period:

- In 2007 Sunbus Drivers will receive an additional 30% for Saturdays, 45% for Sundays, 23% for Voluntary Overtime and 23% for their Rostered Day Off.

- In 2008, A 35% increase for Saturdays and 45% for Sundays

- In 2009, A 40% increase for Saturdays and 45% for Sundays

Sunbus Delegate Henry Adsett says, " We achieved these better working conditions by being a strong unionised yard."
