How long will our safety be in jeopardy?

The QLD TWU is calling for an URGENT review of security at Brisbane Airport following reports of regular security breaches.

The Courier Mail reports of contraband found on direct flights to Los Angeles, ISS Screeners failing to detect a pistol during a random test and non-functional metal detectors. (Thursday 17, 2008.)

A Level Four Airline Services Operator says, "The casual workers who operate the security equipment at the airport aren't properly trained or monitored."

Branch Secretary Hughie Williams says, "The safety measures at Brisbane Airport are appalling and the airport is an easy target for a terrorist attack."

The Transport Workers' Union calls for a detailed review of security mesaures at Brisbane Airport and for the QLD Transport Minister to meet with Brisbane Airport Management.
