Roads
The QLD Government can make our Roads safer

The QLD Transport Workers' Union is calling on Kerry Shine, Queensland Attorney General and Minister for Justice to support and set up an inquest into heavy vehicle fatalities.

The call comes after five people were killed in accidents involving trucks in South East Queensland in the last three days.

TWU Branch Secretary Hughie Williams says, "While the TWU welcomes State Coroner Michael Barnes plans to review fatal crashes involving heavy vehicles an inquest into these deaths needs to happen now."

Mr Williams says, "We need to find out why these accidents are occurring and put legislation and safety measures in place to reduce fatal truck crashes on our roads."

The TWU will meet with the Minister for Justice next week and will push and will continue to push for an urgent inquest into heavy vehicle fatalities.
