THERE ARE UNSAFE BUS DRIVERS ON OUR ROADS

The QLD TWU has found some startling evidence at Veolia Buses at Capalaba today.

Whilst carrying out an inspection on the company's time and wage books the TWU found out there are bus drivers driving more than 18 hours a day.

TWU Branch Secretary Hughie Williams says, "Driving more than 12 hours a day is highly dangerous and illegal."

Mr Williams says, "To make matters worse one of the drivers who drove the illegal hours is the company's Occupational Health and Safety Officer."

The TWU calls for the company's Occupational Health and Safety Officer to be replaced, the person who instructed the drivers to drive more than 18 hours a day terminated and for the QLD Government to investigate these serious safety breaches."

Mr Williams says, "The Government needs to intervene now before a serious accident or fatality occurs."
