WHAT IS THE QLD GOVERNMENT DOING?

The QLD Transport Workers' Union wants to know what the QLD Government is doing about the State's increasing heavy vehicle road toll.

The call comes after another truck fatality on a Queensland Highway, the Cunningham Highway this morning.

TWU Branch Secretary Hughie Williams says, "A young child also sustained injuries during the crash, a five year old girl."

Mr Williams says, "This fatality brings the State's heavy vehicle road toll to 31, 14 more than this time last year."

Over the last six months the TWU has called on the QLD Government for an inquest into heavy vehicle fatalities to find out the cause/causes of these crashes, but the TWU's calls have gone unanswered.
