The TWU covers members in Aviation, Passenger Transport, Local Government, Waste, Cash in Transit and Oil and Gas.
The TWU has a long history in Queensland dating back to the late 1800’s and was originally formed as a draymans union. Over the years the TWU has earned a reputation for standing strong in the face of strong opposition from employers.
In 2010 Peter Biagini, a long term employee in the Transport Industry and former TWU QLD organiser, was elected as State Secretary of the Union. ‘We’re creating a strong, modern, united TWU that will have unrivalled power to control our destiny – and the nation’s. This union is your union, so lets work together to make our industrial power unstoppable.’
The Transport Workers’ Union of Australia – Queensland Branch is affiliated with the Queensland Council of Unions.
