A WOMAN’S PLACE IS IN HER UNION

‘Female membership of the TWU does not reflect the real numbers of women working in the transport industry,’ State Secretary Peter Biagini said. ‘It is a great growth area for the TWU, but we need to work hard to make sure that  as a union we are providing the resources and representation to appeal to everyone in the industry.’

The ‘A Woman’s Place is in her Union’ campaign will roll out over the coming months and will work to identify reasons women join the TWU – but, more importantly, work to establish reasons why women choose not to join the union.

‘We need to make sure that, regardless of gender, all members of the transport industry know that the TWU is here to provide the protections and resources that all workers need,’ Peter Biagini said.
