After visits to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) on Tuesday afternoon and this morning, Unions and Brisbane City Council have accepted the QIRC’s recommendation to cease all activities promoting Council’s offer and all industrial action for a few days to enable further discussions assisted by a member of the Commission.
The discussions commenced on Thursday last week and focus on the outstanding claims of the Rail Tram and the Bus Union concerning Council’s bus operations with a focus on safety and rostering among other things.
As matters progressed, the discussions moved onto our outstanding claims on Monday.
The last day of voluntary conciliation will occur today. If the negotiations are fruitless, the suspension of promotion of the Council’s ballot will cease as will the suspension of industrial action.
ALL INDUSTRIAL ACTION SUSPENDED FROM MIDNIGHT
All action notified by the TWU ceased from midnight last Thursday. We will let you know if it needs to be reinstated. Our Union looks forward to some serious negotiations to resolve all outstanding matters and deliver a great and safe outcome to EBA 9. It’s been a long and rocky road so far, and members of our Union can rightly take credit for weathering the journey and leading the way.
