BCC EBA UPDATE – 28-6-17


TO BCC TWU MEMBERS:

Yesterday your union met with council to progress issues particularly regarding Job Security. Council have continued to state that their position is that that they have put a final offer out to employees and they believe they have overwhelming support for the offer.

Unions continue to reassert that the feedback from members is that the offer is not adequate. Council continues to assert that they are not going to make any significant changes to their offer including the pay offer.

As such various unions are beginning notify of minor industrial action.

The TWU have notified Council that our members will be participating in the following actions.

  • A ban on operating a two-way radio (outside designated council construction sites or quarries), commencing at 5.00am on Monday 3 July 2017 and continuing until 5.00am on Wednesday 5 July 2017;
  • A ban on answering mobile phone calls commencing at 5.00am on Monday 3 July 2017 and continuing until 5.00am on Wednesday 5 July 2017;
  • A ban on the washing of trucks commencing at 5.00am on Monday 3 July 2017 and continuing until 5.00am on 5 July 2017;
  • The wearing of a TWU hat/cap during working hours commencing at 5.00am on Monday 3 July 2017 and continuing indefinitely.

Your TWU will be holding meetings at Eagle Farm at 6.30pm tonight and 6am Thursday morning. Your TWU will also call members in the sweepers crews to answer any questions members may have.
