As you may be aware the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) has begun calling union members across the country, including TWU QLD members, to identify major issues of concern in the upcoming Federal Election and also voter intention.
This is not a poll in the traditional sense and you can be assured that this information will not be distributed to anyone outside of your TWU.
This information is being gathered by the ACTU to identify the issues of greatest concern to workers during the federal election to assist in framing the ACTU campaign in coming months.
You will note that the ACTU has already launched the ‘Australian Unions. Join. For a Better Life’ campaign launched during the first game of the State of Origin.
Regardless of political persuasions, what we know is that industrial laws made by politicians in Canberra affect our working rights – making out lives better or more of a struggle as a result. Ensuring that laws in our workplaces guarantee fairness and uphold safety are two objectives we have always fought for. This election year will be no different.
Over the coming weeks we may contact you to talk about issues confronting working people in your industry, in your community and find out what’s important for you and your family in this upcoming federal election.
We look forward to your support in this matter, and working with you to advance the interests of working people across the country.
If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact your TWU on 1800 804 533 or email your query to firstname.lastname@example.org.
