Notice to members employed at: Cairns Regional Council

Proposed Certified Agreement name: Cairns Regional Council Certified Agreement 2017

The Industrial Registrar has approved the process to be undertaken by the Transport Workers’ Union of Australia (Queensland Branch) to allow members to vote on whether they wish to have the right to take protected industrial action in support of reaching a Certified Agreement.

All financial members of the TWU employed at Cairns Regional Council are invited to attend meetings to vote on whether they wish to take protected industrial action in support of claims for a Certified Agreement and/or in response to any industrial action taken by the Employer during bargaining.

In support of reaching a Certified Agreement, members will be asked whether they support the taking of protected industrial action which involve one or more of the following taken separately or consecutively:

  • Indefinite or periodic bans on overtime
  • Indefinite or periodic bans on the filling in of paper work
  • Stoppages of work for 15 minutes
  • Stoppages of work for 30 minutes
  • Stoppages of work for 2 hours
  • Stoppages of work for 4 hours
  • Stoppages of work for 8 hours
  • Stoppages of work for 24 hours
  • Indefinite stoppages of work

Members will also be asked to indicate if they wish to have the right to take protected action up until a new agreement is made.

Meetings will be held at the following times and locations:

Depot/yard Martyn Street Monday 26 March 2018 at 5.00am and 6.00am

Depot/yard Gordonvale  Monday 26 March 2018 at 7.00am

Depot/yard Magazine Street Stratford Monday 26 March 2018 at 2.30pm

Members who are unable to attend a meeting can vote by e-mail on the proposed actions by sending an e-mail to: Russell.Vieritz@twuqld.asn.au by COB Monday 26 March 2018.
